Dass auf Dienstreisen nicht immer der Dienst im Vordergrund steht, ist relativ gängig. Dass sich allerdings eine Delegation deutscher Abgeordneter weitgehend nicht von "inhaltlichen Terminen" von der Freizeit ablenken lassen will, dann muss man sich natürlich schon fragen, ob sie nicht besser beraten wären, die Reise auf eigene Kosten zu veranstalten.
Rolf Schütte, the German consul general in San Francisco, wrote to the foreign ministry in Berlin to express his outrage. [...] Schütte wrote that the behaviour of the bundestag's health committee members during a visit to the US and Canada in May ranged from "inappropriate to bloody-minded". He euphemistically referred to the visit as a "trip of a special nature", which the MPs had requested should leave plenty of room for a combination of "theatre and concert events, and shopping - especially shoe shopping".
Liest man den Spiegel-Artikel, dann geht man davon aus, dass sich die Abgeordneten in Kalifornien einen Urlaub gegönnt haben - und dies ist noch nicht einmal sehr unwahrscheinlich.
